IGP Jammu Zone visits Udhampur, Reviews Law & Order Scenario

JAMMU, Nov 4: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, IPS, paid a visit to District Udhampur, where he conducted a comprehensive review of the law and order, security, and crime scenario in a meeting held at DPL Udhampur.
In attendance at the meeting were Joginder Singh, JKPS, SSP Udhampur, Anwar Ul Haq Addl. SP Udhampur, along with various supervisory officers, SHOs, and other police officers.
At the beginning of the meeting, Joginder Singh, JKPS, SSP Udhampur, provided an overview to IGP Jammu Zone regarding the current law and order situation, the state of crime, and security aspects, as well as the initiatives being undertaken by Udhampur Police in the district. He also emphasized the measures being taken to strengthen the security grid and enhance policing. This visit marked the first interaction of IGP Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, IPS, with the officers and IOs in the district. He reviewed the crime patterns in the area and issued directives to improve police performance and enhance public relations.
During the meeting, IGP Jammu Zone instructed the officers to implement measures aimed at enhancing the capabilities of personnel in dealing with cases related to narcotics and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). He emphasized the need for officers to contribute more by conducting supervisory meetings and closely supervising important cases, particularly those related to the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act and UAPA, in order to achieve better outcomes during the remainder of the year. He advised them to enhance the quality of investigation and prosecution to increase conviction rates.
In conclusion, SSP Udhampur expressed gratitude to IGP Jammu Zone for visiting Udhampur and assured him that the Udhampur Police Team would put in wholehearted efforts to achieve the set targets. IGP Jammu also engaged with members of the civil society, who included prominent citizens, ward members, Sarpanchs, Panchs, and social workers. The public was urged to assist the Police Department in crime prevention and detection.
It was conveyed that the Jammu and Kashmir Police is implementing various programs to combat the narcotics and drug menace within society, with a special focus on engaging youth in sports activities. The meeting attendees praised the role of the police in the area and pledged their support to aid the police in performing their duties more effectively.
