| Lawyers strike work | | | Srinagar | September 20 Lawyers in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court as well as the district and lower courts in Kashmir region today struck work in protest against the assault on a senior advocate allegedly by security personnel on the high-security Gupkar road last evening.
General secretary of the Kashmir Bar Association (KBA) Mohammad Ashraf said that two security personnel stopped the car of advocate Manzoor Ahmad Dar at high security road last evening and requested him to take them to a nearby hotel.
He said when the vehicle reached near a security force camp, Manzoor was assulted by them.
Mr Ashraf said both the persons later entered the nearby security force camp.
He said a FIR has been lodged in police station Nishat.
'' Lawyers stayed away from the work in the high court and other district and lower courts in protest against the incident, ''he said adding that the Bar Association will approach the High Court if police failed to bring to the attackers to justice.
The Bar Association also condemned the attack on an official of the High Court in a hospital yesterday. |
