Early Times Report

UDHAMPUR, Nov 6: In preparation for the upcoming celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Saloni Rai today chaired a meeting of line departments here in the Conference Hall of DC Office.
Threadbare discussions were held on various arrangements including the installation of firecracker sale stalls, security arrangements, traffic regulation, drinking water supply, power supply, sanitation, quality and price and quality checking of eatables and the deployment of fire tenders.
It was decided that a joint inspection of the market would be conducted by officers from the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Municipality, Legal Metrology, and Revenue departments to monitor the rates and quality of products, particularly sweets, eatables and fruit items during the festive days. Subash Stadium was selected as the venue for selling firecrackers.
PHE and PDD were directed to ensure adequate supply of drinking water and uninterrupted power supply, especially at the Subash Stadium venue, where a large number of people would visit to purchase fireworks.
The CEO Municipality was tasked to conduct a sanitation drive in the town, including the venue of the cracker stalls and its surroundings.
The CMO was instructed to make necessary first aid arrangements at the Subash Stadium to meet any emergency situation.
Additionally, the Fire & Emergency department was directed to keep standby fire-fighting tenders at the cracker sale venue to deal with any emergency during the sale days. The District and Traffic police were urged to ensure proper traffic arrangements within the limits of Udhampur town during the festive days. Shopkeepers were reminded not to sell crackers at their establishments, except at the designated venue.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to ensure foolproof arrangements related to their respective responsibilities well in advance and encouraged the public to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali this year.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, Additional SP Anwar-Ul-Haq, and representatives from Beopar Mandal, Chamber of Commerce, as well as prominent citizens of the town attended the meeting.
