HIRANAGAR, Nov 6: The Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) at Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial, Government Degree College, Hiranangar, organized a workshop focused on "Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunity." The primary goal of this workshop was to educate students about the various career opportunities available in local handicrafts, particularly in bamboo craft.
The workshop featured as resource persons Sh. Vishvanath Attri and Sh. Darbari Lal, who are local entrepreneurs specializing in bamboo crafts within the Kathua district. The event commenced with a formal welcome address to the resource persons by Prof. Arun Kumar from the Department of Sociology.
Dr. Pragya Khanna, Principal of GLDM GDC Hiranagar, delivered presidential remarks during the workshop. She emphasized the significant role of bamboo in the lives of the people of the Kathua district, not only as a construction material but also for the production of everyday utility items. The resource persons enlightened the students about the various types of bamboo found in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory and the different artifacts that can be crafted from them. The students actively participated in the workshop with enthusiasm and engaged in hands-on training sessions. The workshop was organized by Prof. Shivani Slathia and Prof. Surinder Kumar from the Department of Education in collaboration with IIC. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Prof. Harvinder Kour, President of IIC.
