| ECI order special summary revision of Electoral Rolls | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, FEBRUARY, 07- According to J&K Chief Electoral Officer, Mr. B. R. Sharma, the Election Commission of India has ordered special summary revision of electoral rolls in all the Parliamentary constituencies in the State with reference to 1st January 2009 as qualifying date. The draft publication stands issued on January 31, 2009 while the period for filing claims and objections has been set from January 31, 2009 to February 10, 2009. The period allowed for special campaign data with booth-level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objection shall be February 7, 2009 and February 8, 2009. The disposal of claims and objections shall take place on February 16, 2009 while as updating the data base and preparation and printing of supplementary list will be completed by February 21, 2009. The final publication of the electoral rolls will be done on February 26, 2009. The draft electoral rolls i.e. existing electoral rolls-2008 along with supplement I and II have been kept at District Headquarters/Tehsil Offices/Naib Tehsildar Offices/Offices of Srinagar and Jammu Municipal Corporations/Polling Stations. For Kashmiri Migrants, SERO (Migrants) in Delhi and Jammu shall receive the claims and objections from the migrants living within the jurisdiction. Individuals who have attained the age as 18 years on or before January 01, 2009 are eligible to get themselves enrolled as an elector after filling up Form 6. All existing as well as eligible individual electors of the State are also requested to check their names in the draft electoral rolls. Any eligible person whose name is found missing, inadvertently deleted or spelled out wrongly, may file necessary claim and objection on the prescribed forms so that the necessary corrections/additions are carried out in the draft roll.
