GDC Paloura, Mishriwala spreads awareness on Constitution Day

JAMMU, Nov 7: In celebration of Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas), the Department of Sociology at G.D.C Paloura, Mishriwala, organized a seminar aimed at creating awareness about "The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act" (POCSO). The event featured a comprehensive explanation of the legal framework of this sensitive act by Ankush Manhas, an Advocate at the High Court of Jammu, who served as the resource person for the program. Manhas provided a thorough overview of the statutes established to ensure the protection of children from sexual offenses, sexual assaults, and pornography. He also discussed the positive measures integrated within this legal framework. Dr. Ashu Vashisht, the Principal of the college, addressed the students and expressed appreciation for the efforts of the resource person and the college staff in conducting this program. She highlighted the importance of enlightening students about their roles and responsibilities as responsible citizens in addressing such a sensitive issue. Dr. Pinki Manhas delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the seminar, and Dr. Anoop Kumar, Head of the Department of Sociology, presented a formal vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event. The seminar organized by G.D.C Paloura, Mishriwala, showcased the commitment to promoting awareness and understanding of the legal aspects surrounding child protection and addressing issues related to sexual offenses against children. It served as a reminder that our Constitution stands as a pillar of strength and a source of pride, ensuring the well-being and protection of all its citizens.
