Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Nov 7: The ECO CLUB of Govt. Degree College Neeli Nallah, in collaboration with the NGO 'Live for Others-Being Helpful Foundation (LFO-BHF),' embarked on a three-day workshop encompassing a Cleanliness Drive, Plantation Drive, and an awareness rally with the theme "No Plastic Usage." This event was organized to commemorate the UT Foundation Day and was executed under the able guidance of Prof. Hans Raj, the esteemed Principal of GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur.
This comprehensive program was part of a series of activities conducted by various clubs within the college. Its primary goal was to sensitize students to the value and significance of trees, which are a national asset of utmost importance. To mark the occasion, a variety of trees were planted within the college premises to enhance the positive atmosphere, which plays a crucial role in reducing absenteeism and promoting the overall well-being of the students, who are the future of our nation.
In a concerted effort to increase the green cover of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Principal Prof. Hans Raj took the initiative to plant different saplings on the college campus. As part of the program, students were actively engaged in planting various saplings, instilling in them a sense of responsibility and ownership towards their alma mater.
Addressing the students, Principal Prof. Hans Raj emphasized the profound significance of trees and the positive impact they have on creating a better tomorrow for all. Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, the Convener of the Eco Club, also shared her insights during the event, encouraging students to plant and protect trees to preserve biodiversity.
The workshop was meticulously organized by Dr. Mansi Sharma, Prof. Swati Dutt, Dr. Radha Rani, Dr. Akhtar Hussain, and Dr. Zahoor Wani, among others. The presence of Dr. Mahima Bhagat, Dr. Muntazir Ahmad Bhat, Mr. Pradeep Kumar, and Ms. Swati Sharma added to the success and vibrancy of the event.
Govt. Degree College Neeli Nallah's initiative not only celebrated the importance of environmental conservation but also motivated the younger generation to actively participate in safeguarding our natural heritage. This commendable effort underscores the college's commitment to fostering a sustainable and ecologically responsible future.
