Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 7: In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of organ donation, the Jammu and Kashmir State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) recently organized an enlightening program at Syed Ali Memorial College of Nursing and Paramedical Sciences in Beerwah, located in the Budgam district. The event witnessed the warm welcome of the SOTTO J&K team by Dr. Murtaza Bukhari, Chairman of the Syed Ali Memorial Trust. Dr. Bukhari took the opportunity to stress the pressing need for organ donation within society, highlighting its potential to save lives and make a significant impact. Dr. Sanjeev Puri, Joint Director of SOTTO J&K, presented an informative session on the subject of human organ donation and transplantation. In his presentation, he sought to dispel common myths and misconceptions surrounding this critical issue. Dr. Puri emphasized that cadaveric organ donation can be a transformative means of saving numerous lives.
Irfan Ahmed, Transplant Coordinator at SOTTO J&K, played an essential role in the program, explaining the pivotal role of SOTTO in organ donation and transplantation. He also outlined the steps for individuals to register in the Organ Donation Pledge Drive, enabling them to become organ donors and make a difference in the lives of those in need.
The event gained further momentum as students from the college's BSc Nursing program took the stage, passionately advocating for organ pledging. Through their heartfelt orations, students like Junaid Mustafa, Sameera Akhtar, and Farhat Maqbool inspired their peers to consider organ donation as a noble cause worth supporting.
