Memorandum of Understanding establishes collaboration between GCET, BIS

JAMMU, Nov 7: The Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET), Jammu, has taken a significant step towards promoting academic excellence and fostering collaboration with the industry by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bureau of Indian Standards, Jammu (BIS-Jammu). The MoU was officially signed at GCET Jammu in the presence of esteemed dignitaries.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Principal GCET Jammu, Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma, along with Mr. Ashish Kumar Devedi, the BIS-Jammu representative, and several faculty members from GCET Jammu. Notable figures at the event included Sohan Lal, Registrar GCET Jammu, Prof. (Dr.) Simmi Dutta, Head of the Department of Computer Science Engineering, Prof. (Dr.) Subhash Chander Dubey, Professor in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Er. Sanjeev Gupta, Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Raman Gupta, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Dr. Heera Saini, Assistant Professor & Head of the Department of Mathematics, and Er. Surjit Singh, Senior Laboratory Technician.
During the ceremony, Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma expressed gratitude for the collaboration and acknowledged the healthy relationship that has been established between BIS-Jammu and GCET Jammu over the past year and a half. The signing of the MoU demonstrates a commitment to collaborate on various initiatives, including workshops, exposure visits, and industrial visits for students to gain insights into various industries within the state.
This partnership is expected to provide GCET Jammu students with valuable opportunities for growth and exposure to real-world industry practices. The workshops and visits organized by BIS-Jammu will offer a deeper understanding of the operations of various industries in the state, contributing to the comprehensive development of the students. Dr. Rajinder Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and the Mentor of the Standards Club at GCET Jammu, coordinated the entire event. It is noteworthy that GCET Jammu has become the third technical institution in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, following IIT Jammu and NIT Srinagar, to establish an MoU with BIS-Jammu.
This partnership underscores a shared commitment to academic excellence, industry relevance, and the holistic development of students.
