| Sanskrit Manch remembers poet Ranjur | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 8- Renowned Punjabi writer, thinker and reformer late Sarder Mahinder Singh Ranjur, was remembered on his 7th death anniversary at a simple but impressive function held here on Saturday under the aegis of Sanskrit Manch Jammu. On this occasion a ‘Kavi Sammelan' was also organized .Well known Urdu poet Pritpal Singh Betab, Punjabi writers Harbhajan Singh Sagar and Khalid Hussian and Hindi poet Professor Raj Kumar presided over the function which was well attended by a number of writers, poets and intellectuals. The participants paid rich tributes to Mohinder Singh Ranjur and recalled his contribution in the promotion of Punjabi literature. The poets also recited their compositions in the memory of the departed soul.
Throwing light on various facets of the creative life of Ranjur, Manoj Sharma, a well known Hindi poet and founder of "Samaj" read out a poem of Ranjur. Speaking on the occasion, Pritpal Singh Betab said Ranjur was a great support of social justice and human values. His demise has been a great loss to not only Punjabi literature but to literature of the country, he added. Khalid Hussain also recalled his association with Ranjur and said that he was a great human being who could well understand the human emotions which got reflected through his writings and thoughts. Abhimanyu Sharma, president of the Sanskrit Manch Jammu, briefed about the future programs of the Manch and said that the Manch shall observe "Shahidi Diwas" on March 23 in the memory of the Mohinder Singh Ranjur, besides organizing series of lecturers on the life of Comrade Dhanvantri to be organized on July 13. Prominent poets who took part in the 'Kavi Sammelan' included renowned Kuldeep Kirti, Sushil Begana, Krishan Sharma, Deepak, Rajeshwar, Liaquat, Shakti Singh, Sanjeev Bhasin and Sham Talib.
