| Provide alternate connectivity to Doda: Mansoor | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 8- Expressing concern over the continued blockade of Batote-Doda road, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said the Government must work on providing alternate connectivity to the area directly from the Kashmir valley on the pattern of Mughal Road. "As the Baglihar dam has now become a permanent threat to the Batote-Doda road, the Government must work towards providing alternate fair-weather connectivity to the population of Doda, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Inderwal and other areas with the Kashmir valley through Anantnag," PDP leader and MLA Shangus Peerzada Mansoor Hussain said in a statement here today. Mansoor said the Government should not only upgrade the existing Anantnag-Sinthan-Kishtwar road by constructing a tunnel, but also conduct a survey for the construction of Kapran-Dessa road to permanently mitigate the connectivity problem of the area," he said. Expressing concern over the dismal power scenario prevailing in district Anantnag in general and Shangus constituency in particular, Mansoor demanded immediate up gradation of Receiving Station Nowgam and reinstallation and up gradation of damaged transformers in the area. Reminding the Chief Minister of his commitment to replace damaged transformer within three days, he said the Government should stand by the commitment made at the highest level in this regard. Mansoor demanded immediate implementation of Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutkaran Yojna (RGVY) in district Anantnag for which Rs 48 crore have already been sanctioned for electrification of remote un-electrified and de-electrified villages and Patties in the district. He said the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) have failed to implement the scheme in Anantnag as the organization is lacking in adequate field staff for the purpose. He said the Government should get the scheme implemented through Power Development Department (PDD) who has the requisite infrastructure available with them for such jobs
