DDC interacts with media persons

DODA, Nov 13: Harvinder Singh on Monday had the maiden interaction with media persons after taking over as District Development Commissioner Doda here in the Conference Hall of DC office complex. The District Development Commissioner listened to the issues, concerns and feedback from the media fraternity working in District Doda.
The DDC Doda ensured media persons of full cooperation from the Administration to facilitate them in performing their duties in the district. The media persons highlighted different issues being faced by the fraternity and general public of the District. Thorough discussions were held to ensure better coordination between the district administration and media agencies to facilitate dissemination of factual information through the media.
Suggestions were also sought from the media persons for addressing the problems being faced by them in connection with the dissemination of developmental activities being carried out in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Harvinder Singh, urged media men to promote fair, responsible, unbiased, and healthy journalism. He said that the real essence of democracy is possible only with healthy journalism.
The DDC also informed the media fraternity about the mega outreach programme, Back to Village Phase-5, launched to reach out to the people for their active involvement in policy and decision-making at the village level. A brief introduction of the upcoming Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra was given in the meeting, and the media persons were urged to give wide publicity to the yatra so as to make the public aware of the numerous welfare schemes run by the government to improve their living standards.
"District Administration is committed to zero tolerance against corruption, result oriented fight against Drug menace, Augmentation of tourism and other infrastructure in the district, and be available for the public 24×7," the DDC asserted.
District Information Officer Mohammad Ashraf Wani expressed gratitude to media representatives for attending the interactive meeting and reiterated that media must work as an interface between the government and the public to give better voice to the public aspirations and easier platform for the government to reach out to its citizens. He said that good journalism helps national or local governments to formulate social policies to effect positive transformation in the lives of the people.
