Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 14: A proactive delegation representing the National Health Mission (NHM) employees of Jammu and Kashmir convened on Tuesday with Babila Rakwal (KAS), the recently appointed Mission Director NHM J&K. The meeting, centered on addressing longstanding concerns and advocating for the rights of NHM staff, saw prominent NHM representatives voicing their collective concerns.
The delegation, comprising notable figures such as Mr. Rohit Seth, Vice President All India NHM Association, Dr. Nazir Hussain, MO, District President NHM Employees Association Kishtwar, and others, emphasized the pivotal role NHM plays in the healthcare system. A key point of discussion was the delegation's call for the regularization of NHM staff as regular government employees, with wages commensurate to counterparts in other departments. They drew attention to existing salary disparities among NHM staff in different states, stressing the need for equitable compensation.
Addressing the challenges posed by geographical terrain in certain districts, the delegation proposed the classification of these areas as "Hard to Reach," seeking additional incentives to uplift the economic status of NHM employees. The memorandum also included requests for leave benefits aligned with agreements made in other states and the timely release of pending salaries for the agitation/termination period.
Dr. Nazir Hussain, District President NHM Employees Association Kishtwar, expressed optimism, stating, "We welcome Ms. Babila Rakwal to her new role and are hopeful that under her leadership, our genuine concerns will be addressed promptly. NHM employees have been diligently serving the community, and resolving these issues will only strengthen the healthcare delivery system."
The delegation commended Ms. Rakwal for her commitment to public health and eagerly awaits positive developments in response to the presented memorandum. The NHM Employees Association remains dedicated to collaborative efforts with the Mission Director and relevant authorities, ensuring the well-being of NHM employees and the communities they serve.
