Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Nov 14: Air pollution caused by cement manufacturing factories, including Shri Ram Industry and Uma Cement Industry, is severely impacting the lives of residents in Battal Ballian industrial area. The dense smoke and cement dust emitted from these factories have led to numerous health issues, with many locals falling sick.
Residents also highlight the obstruction caused by trucks carrying raw materials to these factories, leading to long queues on roads and hindering the movement of other vehicles. Despite allegations that these factories are violating Pollution Control Board norms, residents claim that corrupt practices in the concerned offices prevent necessary inspections.
Expressing concern for human lives at stake, locals urge immediate action from authorities, including the Pollution Control Board, to address the pollution caused by these cement factories. They warn of potential roadblocks and continuous protests if authorities fail to take prompt measures.
Residents emphasize the adverse effects on plants and crops in the area, with instances of black rain damaging the vegetation. They appeal to Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, to intervene, investigate the matter, and take action against the cement industries and officials responsible for the pollution affecting the lives of innocent people in the area.
