Jammu police cracks jewellery heist case in record time

Jammu, Nov 14: In a remarkable achievement, Jammu Police solved a jewellery shop theft case within less than 12 hours and arrested two notorious thieves who had looted gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 68/69 lakhs on the night of Diwali.
SSP Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar IPS has informed that the police teams of PS City, under the supervision of SP North Kulbir Handa, SDPO North Sunil Kumar Kesar and SHO PS City SI Mohinder Singh, worked tirelessly to nab the culprits who had broken into a shop in the city and decamped with about 1.163 kg of gold and 3.64 kg of silver.
He said that the police teams collected CCTV footage, tracked the movement of the suspects and identified their modus operandi.
The accused have been identified as Shafadu, son of Mohd Furqan and Vicky, son of Sham Lal. He said that a case under FIR No. 71/2023 U/S 457,380 IPC was registered at PS City and the accused were arrested. He said that the police recovered stolen ornaments worth Rs 68 lakhs from their possession and more recoveries are expected.
