Jammu, Feb 9: Not ready to give time to the government on addressing their long pending issues including implementation of the recommendations of the sixth pay commission lakhs of employees of state government are gearing up to join two day long pen down strike beginning February 10. Meanwhile, KAS Officers Association has expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the Government in implementation of the 6th Pay Commission Report and enhancement of retirement age and announced that it had not participated in the strike on January 28 nor will participate in the strike call given for February 10 and 11, 2009, keeping in view the full confidence the KAS cadre has in the Government vis-à-vis its seriousness to implement the 6th Pay Commission Report. A spokesman of the Association said that delegation of KAS officers Association called on the Finance Minister, Abdul Rahim Rather in connection with the implementation of the 6th Pay Commission Report and enhancement of the retirement age of the government employees. At the same time a high level team comprising officials of the state Finance department rushed to New Delhi along with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to hold parleys with the planning commission ahead of finalizing state annual plan and discuss the issue of implementation of pay panel report. It may be mentioned that the state government despite giving assurances to the state govt employees have failed to convince them that unless centree agrees to back the state government it would be difficult for the state government to implement the pay panel report. On the other hand, leaders and representatives of various employees unions and associations are determined to go ahead with their strike plan and have made it clear to the state government unless their demands were not met the agitating employees would go ahead with their schedule of strike call.Interacting with media persons representatives of the All J&K clerical employees association and leaders of employees joint action committee and joint consultative committee on Monday said that the employees had made it clear during their previous strike call that if the state government would fail to implement recommendations of the sixth pay commission the employees would again go on strike on Feb 10,11. Expressing dissatisfaction over the attitude of the state government and the tactics adopted by the Governor to gain time, the employees leaders said it is very unfortunate political leadership in the state and een Governor exploited emotions of the employees by giving wrong assurances and making it an election issue. One of the senior employee leader on Monday said the employees are frustrate with the state governments approach towards their genuine demands and would not bend this time till their demadns were met.
