GDC Sidhra promotes awareness on POSH Act through digital program

JAMMU, Nov 22: As part of the Constitution Day celebrations, the Literary Committee, in collaboration with the Sexual Harassment Committee and NSS unit of GDC Sidhra, organized a digital program to raise awareness about the Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act (POSH) under the theme "My Constitution My Pride." The event aimed to educate students about the significance and provisions of the POSH Act.
The program commenced with a formal introduction by Dr. Meesha Bhagat, Convener of the Literary Committee, providing historical context and emphasizing the essentiality of the POSH Act in India. The digital program featured a detailed documentary on the POSH Act, covering its prohibition, prevention, and redressal of sexual harassment at the workplace. The documentary also highlighted the evolution of the act, its provisions, and its connection to fundamental rights.
The discussion included active participation from students and faculty members, engaging in a comprehensive dialogue about the POSH Act. The focus was on promoting an understanding of the act's provisions and its role in safeguarding the fundamental rights of women, ensuring equality, and upholding the right to live with dignity.
The event concluded with a formal discussion among students, addressing notable cases falling under the purview of the POSH Act. Dr. Meesha Bhagat, as the Convener of the Literary Committee, organized the successful event with the coordination of Dr. Anu Sharma, a member of the Sexual Harassment Committee, under the guidance of the esteemed Principal, Dr. B.B Anand.
