Constitution Day celebrations continue with Essay Writing Competition on Women Rights

JAMMU, Nov 22: In continuation of the Constitution Day 2023 celebrations, the Department of Sociology recently organized an impactful Essay Writing Competition centered on the theme of "Women Rights." The event, conducted under the banner of "My Constitution My Pride," aimed to instill a sense of awareness among students regarding the crucial issue of women's rights.
The event unfolded under the esteemed guidance of the college's Principal, Dr. Rajni Bhagat, and the expert supervision of Prof. Jai Mala Thakur, Head of the Sociology Department. The primary objective of the competition was to enlighten students about the significance of women's rights, emphasizing their vital role in achieving equality and providing equal opportunities in all aspects of life.A significant turnout of students actively participated in the competition, using the platform to express their views on the importance of women's rights for fostering equality. The essays collectively reflected the belief that granting women equal opportunities is fundamental to societal progress.The essays were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges, including Prof. Sankait Gupta (HOD Computer Application), Prof. Neelam Kumari (HOD Education), and Dr. Rakesh Choudhary (HOD Political Science).
Rakhi Kour of Semester-1st secured the coveted 1st prize, followed by Neha Devi of Semester-1st who claimed the 2nd prize, and Komal of Semester-1st who earned the 3rd prize. The winners were awarded certificates by the college's Principal, who also extended appreciation to all participants for their thoughtful contributions. The seamless execution of the event was credited to the coordination efforts of Prof. Neharika Sharma, a dedicated faculty member from the Sociology Department.
Worthy Principal Dr. Rajni Bhagat acknowledged the significance of such initiatives in promoting social awareness and applauded the students for their active participation. The event successfully achieved its goal of fostering dialogue and reflection on the crucial subject of women's rights, aligning with the spirit of Constitution Day celebrations.
