| Prof Ankur brings laurels to J&K | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 10- Prof. Ankur Gupta, Joint Director MIER Group of Institutions and Head, Computer Science and Engineering, Model Institute of Engineering and Technology has been conferred the prestigious “Career Award” for young teachers by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. This award is presented on a nationally competitive basis based on research proposals submitted by the applicants from institutions across the country, including the IITs and the NITs. Only 20 career awards are given out in one year by the AICTE. Prof. Gupta is the first recipient of the award in the State in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. The duration of the award is three years and carries a research grant of Rs. 10.50 lakhs which covers setting up of a computation lab and National and International travel as required. Prof. Gupta has over 11 years of work experience including international work experience of over eight years with Hewlett-Packard in various technical positions. He has two patents pending at the United States Patents and Trademarks Office (USPTO), besides a defensive publication to his name. He has undertaken six sponsored research projects for HP and has published over 25 research papers in reputed International Journals and refereed conferences. Under his leadership the department of Computer Science and Engineering recently became the first and only NBA (National Board for Accreditation) accredited department in the State of J&K. The award is another feather in the cap of MIET which is actively engaged in research and development activities. Over the last three years MIET faculty has produced over 70 research papers with over 30 international papers in various disciplines. MIET has linkages with four of the top 10 IT companies in the world – Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Cisco and EMC- under which various value-added programs are offered to the students of MIET. The Management, staff and students of the Institute have extended heartiest congratulations to Prof. Gupta on his tremendous achievement.
