LPU softball players shine, secure gold medals at 45th senior national championship

JALANDHAR, Nov 23: Five talented Softball players from Lovely Professional University (LPU) have achieved recognition as the best in the nation by securing Gold Medals in their respective categories at the 45th Senior National Softball Championship held in Srinagar. These players represented the Punjab State teams, with both the men's and women's teams emerging victorious in their championships.
Gold Medals for Punjab State Teams:
The LPU students played crucial roles in the Punjab State men's and women's Softball teams.
The women's team, comprising Hira Kumari, Manpreet Kaur, Aarti, and Mallika, clinched the Gold Medal in the final against Maharashtra.
The men's team, including player Suresh, emerged victorious in the final against Madhya Pradesh.
Participation and Competition:
The championship saw the participation of 27 men's teams and 25 women's teams, with over 1000 players and officials from across India.
The event aimed not only to promote softball but also foster unity and camaraderie among players from different regions.
Other Medalists:
In the Women's final, Maharashtra and Kerala secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
In the Men's category, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra settled for the second and third positions.
Hosted by J&K Sports Council:
The games were hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council at Bakshi Stadium and Multiple Sports Complex, Rajbagh.
The local residents and sports enthusiasts gathered in large numbers to support the participating teams.
Inauguration and Dignitaries:
The championship commenced with traditional performances of music and martial arts.
The event was inaugurated by the Secretary of Youth Services and Sports of the host state.
Office bearers of the Softball Association of India, including Dr. Praveen Anorkar, graced the occasion.
Congratulatory Message:
LPU Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal congratulated the students and emphasized the importance of such championships in fostering a healthy competitive spirit among players.
The achievement showcases the commitment of LPU in mentoring students to excel in their chosen fields.
