GDC Kathua rally for Communal Harmony, raise funds for riot victims

KATHUA, Nov 23: In a commendable initiative under the National Integration and Communal Harmony Week, NSS Units at Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua rallied together to raise funds for victims of communal riots. The week-long campaign, observed annually from November 19th to 25th, aims to promote peace, communal harmony, and national integration.
NSS volunteers engaged in various activities throughout the week, with a primary focus on raising funds for the physical and psychological support of orphaned or destitute children affected by communal violence. The collected funds will contribute to their education and overall well-being.
The campaign also sought to foster a sense of fraternity among people, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace, communal harmony, and national integration. NSS volunteers actively participated in activities that aimed to bring communities together.
NSS volunteers took to the streets of Kathua town, distributing communal harmony flags as a symbol of unity and solidarity. This initiative aimed to spread awareness and encourage a collective commitment to peaceful coexistence.
The fundraising campaign kicked off from the chamber of the Principal, where Incharge Principal Prof Raj Kiran Sharma made a generous donation for the noble cause. The collective contributions were collected in the form of a bank draft
The funds raised will be sent in the form of a bank draft to the Secretary of National Communal Harmony in New Delhi. The funds will be earmarked for the education and support of victims affected by communal riots.
This commendable initiative is being carried out under the patronage of Principal Prof Seema Mir and the supervision of NSS Program Officers Prof Manmohan Singh and Prof Neha Bandral. Their guidance and support have been instrumental in the success of the campaign.
The NSS Units at GDC Kathua continue to exemplify the spirit of social responsibility by actively participating in initiatives that contribute to the betterment of society. This campaign not only raises funds but also reinforces the values of unity, harmony, and integration among the student volunteers and the community at large.
