Stephens Group of Institutions takes strong measures against ragging

Jammu, Nov 25: In a proactive move towards ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for students, an Anti-Ragging Committee Meeting was convened at Stephens College of Nursing, operating under the auspices of Dr. Aparna Educational Trust. The meeting, held on the college premises, focused on the institution’s preventive and remedial measures to combat the menace of ragging during the upcoming Academic Session 2023-2024.
Mr. Manoj Kotru, the Administrator of Stephens College of Nursing, took the lead in briefing attendees about the preventive measures already implemented for the welfare of the students. These measures were designed to create an environment that discourages and prevents any form of ragging within the institution.
Representing the Police Station, Mr. Chain Sharma, Sub Inspector, and In-Charge of Police Chowki Kullian, commended the college’s efforts to curb ragging. He appreciated the comprehensive steps taken and expressed support for maintaining a ragging-free campus.
Ms. Shabnam Dhiman, the Nodal Officer for Anti-Ragging, outlined the agenda of the meeting. She highlighted a poster competition that had been conducted to raise awareness among freshmen about the helpline numbers, the definition of ragging, and the associated penalties for those engaging in such activities.
During the meeting, Mr. Chain Sharma also addressed the students, providing insights into different cybercrimes and offering advice on staying vigilant while managing social media accounts. It was emphasized that the college had successfully maintained a ragging-free status throughout the Academic Session 2022-2023.
Mr. Chain Sharma further briefed the attendees on the relevant sections under the RPC (Ranbir Penal Code) pertaining to ragging. He applauded the college for the absence of any ragging cases or complaints from students, indicating the efficacy of the preventive measures in place.
Prof. Kheema Peshin, Vice Principal of Stephens College of Nursing, along with Mr. Manoj Kotru, assured all members that the institution would continue fostering a cordial relationship between seniors and juniors. They reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a ragging-free environment.
The meeting was attended by all members of the Anti-Ragging Committee, underscoring the collective dedication to creating a secure and inclusive atmosphere for students within the institution.
