Constitution Day celebration held at GDC Chatroo

Jammu, Nov 25: Government Degree College Chatroo observed Constitution Day as a part of its month-long activities under the theme “My Constitution My Pride.” The entire student body and staff enthusiastically participated in the program, which was organized under the able guidance and supervision of Dr. Ved Kumar, Principal of the college. Dr. Jaswant Singh, Physical Education Director of the college, provided a brief introduction to the program.
Highlighting the historical significance, Dr. Haq Nawaz, Lecturer in Political Science, delivered a lecture on the Indian Constitution. He emphasized the importance of Constitution Day, its formation, and how it serves as a safeguard for citizens against adversities and political afflictions. Dr. Haq Nawaz also shed light on the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, underscoring its role in articulating the aims and aspirations of the people.
In his presidential address, Dr. Ved Kumar, Principal of the college, noted that the day has been designated as Constitution Day to raise awareness about its architect, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. He motivated the students to excel in education, emphasizing its pivotal role in social and environmental improvement.
Dr. Ved Kumar urged the students to read different Articles and Schedules of the constitution, recognizing its role in protecting citizens.
As a symbolic gesture, all the NSS volunteers, staff, and attendees took the pledge on the preamble of the Indian Constitution.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Chander Parkash, NSS program officer. The coordination of the entire program was handled by Prof. Ajeet Kumar. Faculty members Dr. Jaivardhan Manhas, Dr. Inam, and Mr. Mudassir Bhat were also present during the occasion.
The Constitution Day celebration at GDC Chatroo served as a poignant tribute to the foundational document of India, fostering awareness and understanding of its principles among students and the college community.
