DCDC discusses road map for implementation of World's Largest Grain Storage Plan

KATHUA, Nov 25: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas, today chaired a meeting of District Cooperative Development Committee (DCDC) to discuss the road map for implementation of World's largest Grain Storage Plan scheme, here at DC Office Complex Kathua. ADC Kathua Ranjit Singh, CAHO, Dr Yugal Kishor, DDM NABARD Amit Kumar, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies Tasbina Sheikh, and other members of the Committee were also present.
At the outset, Deputy Registar Cooperative Societies apprised the DC about the several ongoing schemes of the department viz, Computerization of PACS, converting PACS to PMKS, JAN Ayushdi Kendra etc. Regarding Jan Aushadhi Kendra, DR informed the DC that currently they are running two JAN Ayushdi Kendra inside PHC Marheen and PHC Lakhanpur besides finding the suitable place for three more Jan Aushadi Kendra. She also highlighted the issues related to the availability of suitable land for super bazaar and mini bazaars.
The DC assured that issues related to the land for Super Bazaar at Kathua and Mini Bazar at Billawar and Bani will be taken up with the concerned Revenue Authority on priority. The DC Directed Agriculture Department to identify areas where surplus production has been recorded preferably in Hiranagar, Keerian, Nagri and Billawar, where the new grain storage plant can be finalized. He also directed the Agriculture Department to collaborate with the Cooperative department for the establishment of CHC at suitable place. The DC further directed the Cooperatives Department and NABARD to complete the Pilot Project for Grain storage going on in Marheen enabling the local farming community to get the benefit at the earliest.
The DC also impressed upon the need for roping in FPO Dairy in HADP so that necessary handholding can be extended to the uncovered farming community. He also advised for taking Fisheries department to work in tandem so that fishing community can avail benefit of various tailor made schemes under the aegis of Cooperatives Department.
Regarding utilization of available infrastructure for the larger good of the people, the DC directed the department to use computers of the Cooperative societies for extending digital services to the members as well as the common rural populace.
