GMC organises poster presentation, debate competition to foster creativity among medical students

DODA, Nov 25: In its persistent endeavor and dedication to nurture the next generation of leaders and intellectuals, the Department of Community Medicine, Govt. Medical College Doda, in coordination with the Department of General Surgery, organized a poster presentation and debate competition, here the other day.
The aim was to foster an environment where ideas and creativity flourish and voices are empowered.
The event witnessed the participation of students of newly inducted MBBS Batch 2023-24 in debate competition along with poster presentation themed around the topic "Tobacco and vascular Health".
In his opening address to the event, Dr. Suresh K Kotwal, (HOD, Department of Community Medicine) and Dr. Babar Rashid Zargar, (HOD, Department of General surgery) along with welcoming the audience, also highlighted the importance of vascular health and a range of nuisances of tobacco consumption on vascular health.
Distinguished faculty members such as Dr. Sumat Ul Khursheed (HOD Department of Pathology), Dr. Safia Khan (HOD Department of Microbiology), Dr. Garima Charak (HOD, Department of Physiology) and Prof.(Dr.) Puja Vimesh (Principal GMC Doad) served as panel of judges to ensure fairness and expertise in evaluating the participants performances, base upon which the prizes were distributed among the top performers by the Chief Guest of the event Prof.(Dr). Puja Vimesh (Principal GMC Doda).
Dr. Himanshu (Demonstrator), Department of Physiology, played an active role by effectively managing the stage hosting throughout the event, so as to ensure smooth and successful progression of the event in time bound manner
In his closing address, Dr. Babar Rashid Zargar (HOD, Department of General surgery) thanked the participants, faculty members and Chief Guest for their invaluable contribution in making the event a resounding success. He also apprised the audience that a superspeciality CTVS OPD will be held every Friday 10:00am to 12:00 pm to provide Cardiothorasic and Vascular surgical facility to the patients.
