Shami’s meetings with Shah, NSA fuel rumours of him joining BJP

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 26: Back-to-back meetings of World Cup 2023’s highest wicket-taker Mohammad Shami with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and NSA Ajit Doval fuelled rumours of his joining the BJP before the Lok Sabha elections.
Although there is no official statement either from the BJP or Shami himself, social media is flooded with such comments that Mohammad Shami is going to join the Saffron Party.
“BJP might be looking to field Mohammed Shami in the next Lok Sabha elections. He recently attended a couple of programmes held by BJP leaders. Talks are at an early stage and nothing is confirmed”, a netizen said.
Earlier Team India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's gesture of meeting the players after their 2023 World Cup final loss.
On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with Team India following their loss to Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup final, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami said that gestures like these give players confidence and are important for them.
Another heartbreak was added to the list for Indian fans as Australia beat them by six wickets in the final of the Cricket World Cup at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, continuing the Men in Blue's drought of ICC trophies since 2014. Australia captured its record-extending sixth World Cup title.
“Such gestures are important (PM Modi meeting players). When the Prime Minister encourages you after that, it gives you confidence. Because your morale is already down. It is something really different,” said Shami to the media in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha area.
Shami was one of India's biggest stars of the World Cup.
Mohammed Shami finishes 2023 World Cup as the highest wicket-taker.
