JAMMU, Nov 27: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha, Gulam Ali Khatana, held a crucial meeting with senior officials from the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) to evaluate the status of power projects underway in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting also addressed crucial welfare initiatives for the affected population in districts Kishtwar, Doda, and Reasi.
The attendees included Chief Executive Officer of Rattle Hydroelectric Power Corp. Ltd., Ashok Kumar Nauriyal, Managing Director of CVPPL, Jammu, Hassan Nadeem, General Manager E&C of CVPPL, Vasant Hurmade, Senior Manager of RHPCL, Shashi Paul Singh, and Assistant Manager of RHPCL, Parveen Kumar Thapa.
MP Khatana emphasized the significance of prioritizing the well-being of communities facing challenges, especially in districts dealing with adversities. He advocated for the establishment of a Trauma Centre on the Kishtwar-Batote highway to enhance emergency medical services and the setup of a health facility in the Drabshalla area for improved healthcare access.
Addressing the issue of road safety, Khatana stressed the implementation of modern technology in crash barriers to prevent major accidents in the Kishtwar area and the loss of precious lives. He urged NHPC to take up Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives for improving facilities in schools, providing potable drinking water, and enhancing sanitation facilities.
Highlighting the hazardous condition of roads in Doda, Ramban, and Kishtwar districts, Khatana noted that these have become death traps. He previously raised this issue during the parliamentary session and received assurance from Minister for Roads and Transport, Nitin Gadkari, regarding the use of modern technology in crash barriers to prevent accidents. He also emphasized the need for CSR resources to allocate ambulances to support the Health department.
MP Khatana expressed his dedication to the holistic development of the region and urged NHPC officials to leverage modern technology for the safety of the local population. The leaders discussed ongoing projects and assessed their impact on the communities, with a specific focus on the catchment area.
Senior NHPC officials provided comprehensive updates on the progress of power projects and assured MP Khatana of their commitment to utilizing CSR funds for the betterment of various facilities in the catchment area.
