Legal awareness program held at MV International School

SAMBA, Nov 28: MV International School organized a legal awareness program in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority Samba, under the guidance of J&K Legal Services Authority. The event aimed to impart practical knowledge about legal rights and remedies, focusing on the Information Technology (IT) Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The chief guest, Yesh Pal Kotwal, Honourable Principal District & Sessions Judge Samba and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority Samba, highlighted various acts and provisions that cover actions knowingly or unknowingly falling under legal scrutiny. He appreciated the school's efforts in organizing the legal literacy program, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in preventing crime in society. He encouraged students to disseminate this knowledge to their peers and take appropriate action in case of injustice. Information about websites for reporting cybercrimes and helpline numbers for offenses against children was also shared.
Honourable Secretary DLSA Samba, Rekha Kapoor Nischal, and Special Guest Advocate Mandeep Sambyal, President Bar Association Samba, attended the event. The school's Chairman, Director, Joint Secretary of Bar Association Samba, and the Principal, along with students and staff, participated in the program. The event included keynote addresses on the POCSO Act by Advocate Hitesh Sharma and the Information Technology Act by Advocate Tanya Pargal. The speakers provided insights into legal aspects and remedies, addressing taboos and raising awareness. Gourav Abrol, Director of MV International School, expressed gratitude and highlighted the school's philosophy of organizing legal literacy programs to create awareness and encourage cautious and lawful actions.
