National Integration Week Reverberates at MIER College with Cultural Extravaganza

Jammu, Nov 28: The NSS Unit of MIER College of Education illuminated the campus with a week-long celebration of National Integration Week from November 19 to 25, 2023. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and distinguished guests.
The week’s highlights included an inter-college poetry recitation competition, an interdepartmental patriotic dance competition, and a vibrant interdepartmental competition on cultural attire. Dr. Adit Gupta, Principal and Director of MIER, along with esteemed heads of the School of Education and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Deputy HoD of SOE, faculty members, and students from various departments graced the events with their presence.
The Patriotic Poetry Recitation Competition saw over twelve NSS volunteers from different institutions in Jammu showcasing their talents. The jury, comprised of eminent personalities including Dr. Aksa Rao, Dr. Anupama Sharma, and Mr. J. R. Sagar, selected Mr. Nirbhay Khajuria of MIER College as the winner, with Ms. Charanpreet Kour of GCW Parade Ground and Ms. Ayushi Kesar of Shivalik College of Education, Udhampur securing the second and third prizes, respectively.
The Inter-Departmental Patriotic Dance Competition added rhythm and vibrancy to the celebrations. B.A. Honors Psychology Semester I and B.A. Honors English Semester III emerged as the first and second runners-up, judged by Mr. Tarun Sayal and Ms. Mohini Thapa.
The finale, an Inter-Departmental Cultural Dress Competition, witnessed creative expressions from 11 participants. Mr. Nirbhay Khajuria and Ms. Aatifa Nisar claimed the top spot, while Ms. Kanureet and Ms. Aditi secured the second and third positions, respectively.
The jury members were honored with mementos and appreciation certificates, and all the winners received trophies and certificates in recognition of their outstanding contributions. The week concluded with a successful fundraising event on Flag Day, where more than 200 flags were sold, marking a spirited end to the National Integration Week celebrations.
Professor Adit Gupta, in his interaction with NSS volunteers, commended their efforts in promoting unity in diversity and encouraged them to actively participate in social service activities. Emphasizing the value of national integration, he urged the students to become contributing members of society. The event was organized by Mrs. Komal Sharma, NSS Program Officer, and Ms. Sonika Kumari, Member of NSS Unit.
