Sectt employees say Govt should clear stand on pay issue

The employees of the Civil Secretariat, including the employees of the Legislative Assembly/Council Secretariat, today protested in support of their demands and demand with put forth regard to implementation of Sixth Pay Commission recommendations, enhancement of retirement age of the employees and removal of pay anomalies in different pay scales.
Addressing the Nazir Ahmad Mir and Abdul Majid Bhat, President, Civil Secretariat Lower Grade Employees Union appealed the Government to accept the just and genuine demands of the employees in the best interest of general public the service of which is the ultimate aim of the Government as well as the employees in their capacity as public servants.
Reminding the Government of its commitment given at various forums for implementation of these demands they stated that any further delay in the matter would create an avoidable situation of drift, which shall hamper the cordial atmosphere of better employee-employer relations.
Mir requested the employees to remain calm, but vigilant against some elements from who hatch conspiracies for their personal benefits and warned such elements to desist from such activities or otherwise they shall exposed before the public. He appealed the employees to fortify their ranks and assured them that their unity for purpose shall and shall only fructify in successful and logical conclusion of their just and genuine struggle for justice and equity. While concluding the present phase of strike, Nazir Mir announced the next phase of struggle and appealed the employees to observe complete ‘Kam Chod Hartal’ on 16th, 17th and 18th of February, 2009.
Meanwhile, J&K Govt. employees joint action committee have congratulated the employees for making strike successful and have asked the employees to observe complete hartal on February 16,17 and 18 respectively. Leaders of EJAC, G.L. Chadha, Kursheed. A. Kutay, Ringching Narbo and Walyat Ali have appealed the employees and leaders of various organization to force the government to accept the demands of employees.
