| ‘Frame wage policy’ | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 11 R.S. Pathania and a political activist in a communication to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has urged upon him to formulate reasonable wage policy regarding payment to anganwari workers/helpers, Rehbar-e-Taleem teacher daily wagers of PHE, irrigation and of PDD departments etc. As per handout lamented that minimum wages act is very much in force in the J&K which stipulates that nobody could engage a person on a pay honarium less than Rs. 70 per day. But after seeing the payment structure of aforecited categories, it looks as if the government is itself vitiating and violating the sanctity of the legislation. He said that already these people have been clamouring hard for enhancement in payment of their wage structure but the subsequent popular governments have paid least heed to them. He said that A.W. workers are full-fledged employees of the state government and paying them below the threshold limit envisaged by Minimum Wages Act is extra-constitutional, illegal and unjustified running contrary to the democratic and egalitarian fabric of the country.
