GPGC Rajouri organizes redressal camp

RAJOURI, Nov 29: The Women Development Cell of Government Post Graduate College in Rajouri took a proactive step towards addressing the concerns of female students by organizing a Grievance Redressal Camp on November 29, 2023, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shamim A Azad, the Principal of the college.
The camp saw active participation from a substantial number of female students who presented various suggestions aimed at creating a more congenial atmosphere on the campus. Prof. Salma Farooq, the Coordinator of the Women Development Cell, emphasized the importance of such camps in fostering self-confidence among students and promoting gender equality within the campus.
During the gathering, Prof. Farooq briefed the students on the significance of the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act enacted by the Government of India in 2013. She explained how the act is designed to address the issue of sexual harassment, create a safe work environment for women, and provide protection against such incidents.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Shamim A Azad engaged with the students, highlighting the necessity of organizing such camps to ensure a safe and friendly environment for all students and staff, especially women. He underscored the importance of health and hygiene and recognized the role of the Women Development Cell in maintaining these standards. Prof. Azad assured the students that their suggestions and grievances would be promptly considered and addressed for the benefit of the college community. The students were informed about the various safety measures in place for their protection within the campus. They were also acquainted with the existence of committees dedicated to resolving issues related to ragging, harassment, and grievances.
The event witnessed the presence of Women Development Cell members, including Prof. Rabia Kouser, Dr. Divya Mahajan, Ramneeq Kour, and other distinguished faculty members. The members patiently listened to the grievances presented by the students and pledged to address them promptly.
The camp concluded with students pledging to abide by the college's code of conduct and committing to contribute towards the upliftment of society. The event marked a significant step in fostering a secure and inclusive environment for female students at Govt. Post Graduate College, Rajouri.
