Early Times Report
REASI, Nov 29: In a significant step towards empowering the agricultural sectoàr, District Development Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan inaugurated the newly established Machinery Bank at Bhagat Panchayat. The Machinery Bank has been created by the Self Help Group (SHG) under the auspices of Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM).
The Machinery Bank is set to receive an impressive 80% subsidy, enhancing the capacity of SHG members to engage in different agricultural operations.
Under the visionary aegis of Vikshit Bharat, the initiative aims to bolster economic growth and sustainability by allowing SHGs to generate income through the rental of machinery. This strategic move not only supports the farmers but also fosters a collaborative and self-sufficient community.
The DDC also undertook a visit to a thriving mango orchard, boasting 400 plants developed under an integrated farming module. This forward-thinking approach aligns with the broader agricultural strategy to promote diverse and sustainable farming practices. During interaction with the SHG members, the DDC took note of their experiences and challenges. The DDC assured participating women of forthcoming linkages to facilitate the sale of their produce, reinforcing the commitment to uplifting the economic status of local communities.
Numerous stalls were showcased by the women of JKRLM, highlighting their skills and entrepreneurial spirit. This confluence of efforts underlines the holistic approach taken to empower communities and ensure their active participation in the economic landscape.
The Machinery Bank inauguration marks a pivotal moment in the pursuit of a resilient and self-reliant agricultural ecosystem.
