GDC inspires creativity with model exhibition

RAMNAGAR, Nov 30: In a bid to foster creativity and scientific curiosity among students, Government Degree College Ramnagar organized a Model Exhibition Competition themed "Know Your Body and Your Environment." The event, held at the Zoology laboratory, saw enthusiastic participation from first-year NEP students under the guidance of Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, the college Principal, and Sumita Rao, HOD Zoology.
Approximately 30 students showcased their ingenuity by building models related to the theme, utilizing a variety of materials, including waste and abandoned household items. The competition aimed to promote hands-on learning and align with the principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The esteemed panel of judges included Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra from the Department of Physics, Dr. Kewal Kumar from the Department of Botany, and Prof. Sonia Raj from the Department of Zoology. They assessed the models based on criteria such as relevance to the theme, the type of materials used, and overall presentation and creativity.
The event concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony, graced by Dr. Bhavnaish Chand as the guest of honor and Colonel N. Salathia, Administrative Officer, J&K Boys Bn. NCC Jammu, as the Chief Guest. Ms. Sumita Rao, the convener of the Science Club, welcomed the guests and expressed gratitude to the judges for their meticulous evaluation.
Colonel N. Salathia emphasized the significance of science in daily life, praising the efforts of participants and encouraging a healthy spirit of competition. He shared insights from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's life, inspiring the young minds present.
Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, in his address, congratulated the organizing committee and participants, highlighting the alignment of such activities with NEP 2020. He emphasized the importance of balancing work with play to make academics engaging and enjoyable for students.
