Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 30: In a commendable effort to instill the significance of democratic participation, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit at Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra organized an enlightening Awareness Lecture and Enrolment of New Voters. Held under the auspices of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the event aimed to educate and engage students on the pivotal role voting plays in shaping the nation's destiny.
Booth Level Officers (BLO), namely Mohd. Gulzar, Akbar Ali, and Jameel Ahmed from Bain Bajalta-B, Jammu East, took the stage to deliver a compelling lecture on the basics of the electoral process. Their emphasis on the fundamental importance of the 'Right to Vote' resonated strongly, portraying it as the infallible weapon of democracy.
Addressing the gathering, the BLO representatives elucidated that the act of voting goes beyond being a mere right; it is a civic duty that transforms citizens into architects of change, contributing to the construction of a better India. Stressing the need for informed choices in selecting representatives, they underscored that the democratic structure flourishes only when the right candidates are chosen through the electoral process.
Following the enlightening lecture, Booth Level Officers actively identified and assisted students who were first-time voters. They facilitated the completion of electoral forms, ensuring seamless enrolment into the democratic framework.
The event was orchestrated by Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, the Program Officer of NSS Unit, with the enthusiastic cooperation of NSS members. Dr. Harpreet Kour, a distinguished faculty member from the Department of Political Science, graced the occasion with her presence, further emphasizing the academic importance of civic engagement.
