Early Times Report
RS PURA, Nov 30: Government Degree College, R.S Pura, through its Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH), joined hands with the Women Cell Jammu to conduct an insightful lecture on 'Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace.' The event, part of the 16 days activism against gender-based violence, was conducted under the esteemed patronage of Principal Dr. Rajni Bhagat and the diligent supervision of Prof. Shifali Abrol, Convener of CASH.
Diksha Kumari and Sabahat Sheikh, representing the Special Cell for Women, supported by the National Commission for Women (NCW) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, served as resource persons for the event. Their expertise added depth to the discussion on creating violence-free workplaces and homes, aligning with the broader objective of the 16 days activism campaign.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Prof. Balwan Singh, setting the tone for an engaging and informative session. The resource persons delved into the nuances of the Sexual Harassment Act at Workplace, 2013, providing detailed insights into preventive measures and the legal framework surrounding gender-based harassment. Arguments related to women's rights and the broader implications of gender equality were also explored.
The lecture drew a diverse audience, including a significant number of students, CASH Committee Members, and other staff members of the college. The Principal of the college, Dr. Rajni Bhagat, lauded the efforts of the organizing committee and expressed appreciation for their commitment to creating awareness on crucial issues.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Anuradha, expressing gratitude to the resource persons, attendees, and the organizing committee. Principal Dr. Rajni Bhagat encouraged the committee to continue organizing such events in the future, reinforcing the college's commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all.
