| DGP flags off students group to HP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 11- As a part of Civic Action Program, the Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda, flagged off a group of students to take part in 4-day Painting Competition, being held at Chamba, Himachal Pradesh from today. These students have been drawn from various educational institutions across the state. They were seen off at an impressive function held at Police Headquarters (PHQ). Giving details, the DGP said that 30 students have been selected from various parts of Valley and Jammu region and would represent the State in 4-day Painting Competition. While interacting with the students on the occasion, Khoda advised them to go and represent the State by taking part in the competition and achieve valuable knowledge in improving their future career and also see the developmental activities and environment in educational institutions and other social activities around the neighboring State. He said it is the endeavor of Jammu and Kashmir Police to give boost to students hailing from remote and far flung areas of the State. He said the aim of organizing such tours particularly for poor students of far-flung and remote areas was to give an opportunity to the youth to visit the outside world and to know more about the country. The students hailed the Police Organization for arranging such tours and some of them said they were going outside their homes for the first time. The group of 30 students is being supervised by a Superintendent of Police, two Teachers and a Non Gazetted Officer accompanying as Nodal Officers. These students who had reported here on February 8 were taken to various places around the city of temples. They also visited Police-Public Mela recently held at Jammu. Earlier, the Inspector General of Police, Railways M. A. Anjum, briefed the DGP, about the Painting Competition, material provided to the students and other activities of the program. Among others the function was attended by Inspectors General of Police, P. L. Gupta, Ram Lubhaya, K. Rajendra, Dr. S.P.Vaid, A. K. Gupta, M.A. Shah, Ravinder Kotwal, and Farooq Ahmed, Deputy Inspectors General of Police, A. Q. Manhas, Deepak Kumar, M. S. Salaria and Alok Puri, AIGs Javaid Riyaz, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, Dr.Koshal Sharma, SSP, Jammu Manohar Singh and other senior police officers.
