SAMBA, Nov 30: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Samba, orchestrated a groundbreaking webcast of Viksit Bharat Yatra under the dynamic leadership of Prof. B. N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu. The event, held with the guidance of Prof. S.K. Gupta, Director Extension, witnessed active participation from over 100 farmers and farmwomen from various blocks of the district.
The Viksit Bharat Yatra, which kicked off on November 26, 2023, aimed at creating awareness about different initiatives of the Government of India (GOI). The webcast, conducted in the premises of KVK Samba, facilitated a virtual platform for farmers to gain insights into the transformative practices advocated by the GOI.
Dr. Sanjay Khajuria, Chief Scientist & Head of KVK Samba, joined the program online, extending a warm welcome to the participants. He provided an overview of the KVK's activities and highlighted the pivotal role of Viksit Bharat Yatra in disseminating knowledge about natural farming. Dr. Khajuria emphasized the advantages of natural farming and soil health, particularly in the rainfed areas of the district, shedding light on the health benefits and market demand for crops grown through these sustainable practices.
As the Yatra entered its 5th day in the district, scientific staff from KVK actively participated in line with the directives from ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana. The Yatra covered different panchayats, including Kehli Mandi, Abtal, Chani Fatwal, Palli, and Kartholi Lower, attracting the participation of thousands of farmers.
Expert lectures were delivered by a dedicated team of scientists including Dr. Neerja Sharma, Dr. Abhay K Sinha, Dr. Sourav Gupta, and Dr. Vijay K Sharma. The lectures covered a spectrum of topics including vegetable farming, farm mechanization, beekeeping, animal husbandry, soil health, and natural farming. Dr. Amit Mahajan, Dr. Shalini Khajuria, and S. Tajinder Singh also actively contributed to the Yatra, enriching the knowledge-sharing experience for all participants.
The webcast of Viksit Bharat Yatra by KVK Samba stands as a testament to its commitment to empowering farmers with innovative agricultural practices and sustainable methodologies, contributing to the overall development of the agricultural sector in the region.
