PHQ, Red FM launch drug awareness campaign

JAMMU, Nov 30: In a concerted effort to combat the drug menace, Range Police Headquarters (RPHQ) Jammu has initiated a significant drug awareness campaign in collaboration with Red FM 91.9. The campaign aims to create a drug-free community through a Nukad Natak (street play) presented by Nav Durga Kala Manch. The program took place at Apsara Road, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, under the Civic Action Programme, under the command of DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua, Sh. Shakti Kumar Pathak-IPS.
The event was attended by the general public from the surrounding area, civil society members, and students from Govt Boys Hr. Secondary School Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. The program commenced with a warm welcome to chief guest Shakti Kumar Pathak, IPS, guest of honour Dr. Vinod Kumar-IPS SSP Jammu, Rajinder Singh Katoch SSP, SO to DIG Jammu, and Sh. Faisal Qureshi SSP Traffic Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest DIG Jammu Sh. Shakti Kumar Pathak emphasized that RPHQ Jammu is organizing similar programs in the jurisdiction of each Police Station, Railway Station, and Bus Stand in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua Districts. He highlighted the destructive nature of drugs, urging individuals to stay away from them and guide others to do the same. He expressed concern about the prevalent habit of drug use among the youth and stressed the importance of sensitizing them across all sections of society.
The Nukad Natak team was awarded a cash prize by DIG Jammu for its outstanding performance related to drug abuse. The Red FM team also performed a short skit addressing drug abuse and its detrimental effects on life.
Various attendees, including the general public, civil society members, representatives from Red FM, and local authorities, appreciated and thanked the Jammu and Kashmir Police for organizing such an informative program. These events are expected to provide valuable information and resources to help individuals make informed decisions regarding drug abuse.
Notable figures present at the occasion included SP South Smt. Shaheen Wahid, DSP RPHQ Sh. Jatinder Singh Sambyal, SDPO South Jammu, SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Anjoo Pandita, Red FM representatives, and members of Apsara Road Trades Association and Govt. Boys Hr. Secondary School Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
