| Chairman JCCB stresses for revival of defunct agriculture co.op societies | | | EARTLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb:11 The secretaries of Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Societies (PACS) of block marh and Bhalwal of district Jammu, were being imparted training with regard to implementation Vaidya Nathan Committee Report, met Chairman the Jammu Central cooperative bank limited Mohinder Singh here today. Singh while interacting with the secretaries, them that in order to boost the agriculture sector, it is important to revive all the defunct Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Societies so that the production credit is availed y the farming community to its full extent. However, he impressed upon them that it is the prime duty of the functionaries of the societies including secretaries to ensure repayment of bank’s loan so that the money in circulation is utilized in a better way and more and more credit is provide to the farmer for different schemes being launched by the central/state government. He apprised that due to non functional of cooperative societies, bank is facing lot of hardship in extending credit to these societies, though it is having surplus funds at its disposal. However, the secretaries participating in the meeting apart from projecting other demands, were of the view that tenure of the managing committees of the cooperative institutions too should be of five years instead of three year and for the purpose state government should effect necessary amendment in the cooperative societies act as the tenure of three years is not enough to extract better results in the institution. In the meeting some of the directors of the bank namely Haji Mahad Joo and Sh. Altaf Hussain Shah were also present.
