GDC empowers students to lead on World AIDS Day

JAMMU, Dec 1: In a dedicated effort to commemorate World AIDS Day 2023, the Red Ribbon Club unit of Government Degree College (GDC), Nowshera, organized a seminar and poster-making competition centered around the theme "Let Communities Lead." The event was orchestrated by Prof. Yogesh Sharma, the Nodal Officer of the Red Ribbon Club, under the overarching guidance of Dr. K.K. Sharma, the Principal of the college. Addressing the students, Prof. Yogesh Sharma emphasized the importance of celebrating World AIDS Day and highlighted the pivotal role students can play in raising awareness within their communities. The seminar and poster-making competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from approximately 40 students who showcased their creativity and drawing skills, crafting posters aligned with the given theme. Seven participants took the stage during the program, deliberating on the causes and consequences of AIDS, dispelling myths, and presenting factual information related to the virus. Dr. K.K. Sharma, the Principal of the college, shared his insights on the theme, commending the students' efforts and expressing appreciation for the organizers of the event. Among the faculty members present were Prof. Monisha Bandhu, Prof. Gurjeet Singh, Dr. Neha Chalotra, Dr. Mehnaz Koser, and Dr. Tahir Mehmood, contributing to the success of the program through their support and engagement. The event concluded on a positive note, with Prof. Yogesh Sharma, Nodal Officer of the Red Ribbon Club, delivering the formal vote of thanks. The celebration of World AIDS Day at GDC Nowshera not only fostered creativity and awareness but also empowered students to take an active role in leading their communities towards a future free from the challenges associated with AIDS.
