JAMMU, Dec 1: The Department of Political Science at Government Degree College Bhagwati Nagar recently organized a compelling event dedicated to raising awareness about the significance of voting. Under the leadership of Prof. Meeru Abrol, the esteemed Principal of the college, the program aimed to highlight the crucial role played by the Election Commission of India in ensuring the integrity of elections and underscored the pivotal importance of voting in a democratic nation.
Dr. Vandana Sharma, serving as the event coordinator, extended a warm welcome to the attendees and delivered an insightful speech emphasizing the essence of voting rights for every individual. The focal point of the gathering was a seminar held in commemoration of National Voter's Day, with Ashvika Khajuria, a first-semester student, articulating the purpose of the day to enlighten and empower the youth about their inherent voting rights.
Atika Tasleen from the first semester delved into the historical significance of Voter's Day, shedding light on its evolution and relevance. Neyakshi Parihar, representing the third semester, passionately addressed the audience, emphasizing the observance of this day to propagate awareness among voters and encouraging active engagement in the electoral process. Adding to this narrative, Sanu Devi from the third semester reiterated the pivotal importance of National Voter's Day, stressing the role it plays in fostering an informed and participative citizenry.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from numerous students and dedicated volunteers from the Department of Political Science. Their collective efforts significantly contributed to the success of the awareness program.
The culmination of the event was marked by a formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and contributors who made the program insightful and impactful.
