Early Times Report SAMBA, Dec 1: In a decisive operation guided by SSP Samba Benam Tosh, the Samba Police apprehended two inter-zone heroin smugglers, leading to the recovery of heroin ('chitta') worth approximately rupees 65,000. The operation also unveiled a stash of cash amounting to rupees 31,000 at a notorious chitta hotspot in Balole Khad, Bari Brahmana. The two arrested heroin smugglers have been identified as Rayees Ahmed, son of Abdul Majid, a resident of Pulwama, and Amir Ahmed Sheikh, son of Mohd. Yusuf Sheikh, also hailing from Pulwama. A case, FIR No. 272/2023, under sections 8/21/22/27-A/29 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Bari Brahmana, and an ongoing investigation is in progress. The inter-zone heroin smugglers attempted to enter the infamous 'chitta' hotspot of Balole Khad in a private car Swift Dzire during the previous midnight, presuming that the police might be less vigilant due to adverse weather conditions. Contrary to their assumptions, the police, under the supervision of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, acted swiftly, intercepting and arresting them immediately after they left the 'chitta' hotspot. The police conducted a thorough search, recovered heroin, seized the smuggling vehicle, and discovered rupees thirty-one thousand from the smugglers' hideout. The successful operation was carried out by a dedicated police team comprising SHO Police Station Bari Brahmana, Sumit Sharma, SI Manohar Lal, and PSI Vineet Rukwal. The operation was under the vigilant supervision of SDPO Bari Brahmana, Rahul Nagar, and Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary. SSP Samba Benam Tosh emphasized that the Samba Police has arrested a total of seventy-seven (77) narcotic suppliers and smugglers in the past ten months. Stringent legal actions, including detentions under PITNDPSA/PSA, are being taken against hardcore heroin smugglers and suppliers, reinforcing the commitment to combatting the drug menace in the region. |
