District police launches crackdown on drug mafia at Rajiv Nagar

JAMMU, Dec 1: District Police Jammu under the supervision of SSP Jammu Dr. Vinod Kumar, IPS has launched a special drive to make Jammu a drug free district. As a part of this drive, special teams have been formed for targeting this menace especially in Rajeev Nagar-Qasim Nagar area. In last 02 months, these teams have managed to apprehend 8 notorious inter-state drug peddlers and have recovered 200 grams of heroin. These drug peddlers were primarily dealing in Rajiv Nagar area. It is pertinent to mention that during the year 2023, out of 44 NDPS FIRs registered in this area, 16 FIRs of NDPS Act have specifically been registered against 20 drug peddlers operating from Rajiv Nagar area. Moreover, one very notorious lady drug peddler Seema @Khairi has been booked under PITNDPS Act and more such detentions are likely.
District Police Jammu is making every possible effort to curb the menace of drug peddling by taking both preventive and punitive measures and the drive shall continue vigorously. Public is also requested to come forward and report any incident of drug abuse to nearest Police unit.
