GDC Udhampur celebrates success of college on wheels participants

UDHAMPUR, Dec 4: Government Degree College Udhampur warmly welcomed and felicitated the students and faculty who participated in the two-week-long College on Wheels Project, Gyanodaya Express. The initiative aimed to showcase the achievements of the institute and provide an innovative form of education.
The event, organized by the Press and Media Cell, took place in the college's conference hall. Prof. Babu Lal Thakur graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The coordinator of the media cell, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, who also served as one of the mentors for the College on Wheels, introduced the program and its objectives to the attendees.
Three students from the Geology Department, namely Sonia Thakur, Kirti, and Anu Sharma, were lauded as they shared their enriching experiences during the study tour. They provided insights into the diverse places visited, cultures encountered, and knowledge gained through interactive sessions at renowned institutions.
The students praised the coordinators, Dr. Daud Iqbal, Dr. Shallu Sharma, and the entire team, expressing gratitude to the college principal, Prof. Dr. Romesh Kr. Gupta, for providing them with this extraordinary opportunity.
The College on Wheels Train was flagged off by Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, on November 19, 2023, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries. The journey covered significant landmarks such as the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhawan, India Gate, Kankariya Lake, Adlaj Ki Bav, Sabarmati Ashram, Naval Dockyard, IIT Mumbai, Sea Beaches, Naval Aircraft Museum, ISRO, ISCON Temple, and Wardah Ashram of Mahatma Gandhi ji.
The Principal and Patron, Prof. Dr. Romesh Kr. Gupta, expressed his appreciation for this unique initiative by the Jammu and Kashmir Government, supported by the Department of Higher Education and executed by Jammu University. He congratulated the students and staff, emphasizing that the experience gained would contribute to their growth and development.
