UDHAMPUR, Dec 4: In a proactive initiative to promote electoral participation and strengthen democracy, Government Degree College (GDC) Neeli Nallah Udhampur organized a vibrant voters awareness rally under the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign, marking National Voters Day. The event, spearheaded by Prof. Hans Raj, the esteemed Principal of the college, saw active participation from over 100 students.
Prof. Hans Raj flagged off the rally from the college premises, symbolizing the college's commitment to civic engagement and democratic values.
The rally traversed through Neeli Nallah Bazar, drawing attention to the significance of voter awareness. Culminating back at the college, the event aimed to reach the local community and instill a sense of responsibility towards electoral participation.
Prof. Hans Raj addressed the students, emphasizing the pivotal role of youth in shaping the electoral landscape. He underscored the importance of every eligible individual, especially those who have recently turned 18, registering themselves in the voter list and actively participating in the upcoming parliamentary election.
As part of the SVEEP activities, the students carried placards and raised slogans, promoting the essence of voting in a democracy. A signature campaign was also conducted, further amplifying awareness about the significance of electoral participation.
The meticulous planning and execution of the event were overseen by Dr. Akhter Hussain, with support from committee members Dr. Sunil Tanoch, Prof. Shaista Yasmeen, Dr. Zahoor Mir, Dr. Mahima Bhagat, and Dr. Muntazir Ahmed Bhat.
Prof. Hans Raj's Call to Action: Prof. Hans Raj urged not only the students but also their family members to exercise their franchise in the upcoming parliamentary election. He highlighted that active participation in the democratic process is fundamental to the nation's progress and governance.
This initiative by GDC Neeli Nallah Udhampur stands as a commendable effort to foster a sense of civic responsibility and awareness among the youth, contributing to the larger goal of building a robust and participatory democracy.
