Advisor Bhatnagar inaugurates Mega Job Fair at GPC Jammu

JAMMU, Dec 6: In a significant stride towards bolstering employment prospects across Jammu and Kashmir, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today inaugurated a Mega Job Fair at Government Polytechnic College (GPC) here.
The event was organized by Labour and Employment department (LED) in collaboration with Skill Development department (SDD) with an aim of connecting job seekers with potential employers and bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, fostering economic growth and addressing unemployment challenges in the region
Commissioner Secretary, SDD, Saurabh Bhagat; Secretary LED, Rehana Batul; Director Employment, Director SDD, Principal Government Polytechnic College Jammu and senior officers of SDD and LED were present on the occasion.
The Job Fair also witnessed an impressive participation from youth as more than 12000 Job seekers who had registered online participated in the event. Around 120 companies and employers with 8000 plus vacancies in diverse sectors were part of this mega event. Government Departments implementing self-employment schemes also installed stalls at the venue for the benefit of Job Seekers.
While interacting with various job providers on the occasion, Advisor Bhatnagar said that this Mega Job Fair is a testament to our commitment to fostering economic growth and providing meaningful employment opportunities for the talented workforce. He added that by bringing together employers and job seekers, we aim to create a platform that facilitates mutual benefit.
Advisor Bhatnagar, on the occasion, also interacted with various job seekers and assured them all possible support in getting jobs. During the interaction, Advisor highlighted that this Job Fair is a mega platform for both employers and job seekers as it will provide avenues for both of them as per their requirements. He added that this fair is also a platform to ascertain the potential of youth.
During the fair, the Advisor inspected all the stalls established by various business establishments and other job providing institutions.
The event showcased a diverse range of industries, including IT, healthcare, finance, manufacturing, and more, offering a plethora of job opportunities for candidates with various skill sets. Participating companies had the chance to engage with potential employees through interviews, networking sessions, and informative presentations.
Local businesses, national corporations, and government agencies alike joined hands to make this job fair a comprehensive success. The collaborative effort reflects the shared vision of building a robust and thriving job market in Jammu.
On the sidelines of the job fair, Advisor Bhatnagar also held a detailed interaction involving representatives from hotel association, Chamber of Commerce and Industries, overseas placement agencies, and leading Job providers.
During the interaction, the Advisor highlighted that this Mega Job Fair aligns with the government’s larger initiatives to address unemployment and promote skill development. He remarked this event also underscores our commitment to creating an environment that supports economic growth and prosperity for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
He assured the business fraternity and other stakeholders that the government is committed to provide all possible support to them and asked them to come forward with suggestions of their respective industrial sectors which can help government to initiate required policy interventions on the same.
Advisor Bhatnagar on the occasion expressed gratitude to all the participants for in this mega job fair.
Speaking during the interaction, Secretary Labour and Employment highlighted the activities of the department and objective of organizing such kind of events across the UT and emphasized on holding more such events in future.
During the fair, Advisor Bhatnagar also distributed job offer letters among various candidates besides he also handed over keys to youth for venturing into transport business.
Pertinently, during the fair, 52 candidates bagged on the spot offer letters besides 3263 candidates were shortlisted for second round on the basis of eligibility and requirements of various companies.
