Parshotam Lal, resident of Village Nathel Chak, Sanji Morh Tehsil Hiranagar, District Kathua. The charge-sheet, produced in the Hon’ble Court, pertains to FIR No. 53/2023 under sections 419 and 420 IPC at P/S EOW, Crime Branch, Jammu.
The accused, Deepak Kumar, is accused of impersonating an Army Major and duping an individual of Rs 5 lakh on the pretext of arranging a job in the Military Engineering Services (MES). The complainant, Darshan Kumar, reported that Deepak Kumar, posing as an Army Major, approached his wife in July 2021 at Dev Sthan, village Nud, Tehsil & District Samba. Subsequently, he visited the complainant's house and promised to secure a job in MES for the complainant's brother-in-law in exchange for Rs 5 lakh.
Following a written complaint, a Preliminary Verification was conducted, leading to the registration of a formal case FIR. The investigation uncovered material evidence, including documentary records, statements from the complainant and witnesses, establishing the allegations against Deepak Kumar. The accused has been found to be a habitual cheat involved in multiple cases of cheating and fraud.
• The accused impersonated an Army Major to lure the complainant into providing monetary consideration of Rs 5 lakh.
• The complainant was promised a job in MES for his brother-in-law, and the accused even asked for necessary documents to process the employment.
Deepak Kumar is implicated in two more cases of a similar nature, indicating a pattern of fraudulent activities.
The charge-sheet is a significant step forward in bringing the accused to justice and serves as a warning against individuals involved in impersonation and fraudulent schemes. The legal proceedings will now determine the fate of the accused based on the evidence presented by the EOW Crime Branch Jammu.
