GDC Vijaypur collaborates with election office for informative lecture on voting rights

Vijaypur, Dec 7: Vijaypur Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur, in collaboration with the District Election Office Vijaypur, Samba, organized a comprehensive lecture on special summary revision under SVEEP 2023 (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation). The event, aimed at raising awareness among young college students about the significance of their participation in upcoming elections, was conducted by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the NSS Unit (KHIDMAT).
Tejasvi from GDC Samba delivered the lecture, providing insights into voting rights and their importance in electing a healthy and competent government. The students were informed about a new portal launched by the government for citizen registration to facilitate the preparation of voter cards.
In collaboration with the Election Commission of India (ECI), a team from the District Election Office Samba visited GDC Vijaypur to enlighten students about the electoral process. Kameshwar Dubey, BLO Supervisor, briefed students on the voting process and emphasized the importance of elections. Students were educated about the electoral process, ECI’s role, voter registration procedures, the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and the significance of ethical voting.
Muneer Hussain (BLO), Mohd. Abdulla (BLO), and Sunil Sharma (Handloom Deptt.) interacted with students, answering their queries. The program was attended by faculty members, college students, and NSS volunteers.
The initiative received positive feedback from students who found it informative and engaging. Prof. Dr. Vandana Gupta, the Principal of GDC Vijaypur, commended the efforts of the District Election Office Samba for organizing an informative and educative lecture, creating awareness about the electoral process. The program was organized with the full support and coordination of senior faculty members, including Prof. Anita Jamwal (HOD Political Science) and Dr. Anoop Bhagat (HOD Sociology). The event was coordinated by Prof. Ritu Bhagat (HOD Education and Convenor IQAC) and co-coordinated by Dr. Manoj Heer (HOD Dogri), Dr. Naseem Ahmed (NSS Program Officer), and Prof. Neelam Thapa (Program Officer, NSS).
