| NSS volunteers excel in Skiing camp at Manali | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 12- A contingent of 40 NSS volunteers led by Professor Sanjeev Sharma, Program Officer, NSS returned back from 13 days Training-Cum-Skiing Camp at Atal Behari Vajpai Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, Himachal Pradesh. It was for the first time that the NSS volunteers from the University of Jammu were selected by the Office of the Programme Coordinator, NSS for participation in such a camp. Volunteers drawn from different colleges, particularly from rural areas, excelled in many activities. The host institution appreciated the work done by JU NSS volunteers during the camp. The students were given basic skiing training in the Institute. Along with training program, the volunteers also participated in cleanliness drive, group discussion and symposiums on women empowerment, eradication of poverty, female feticide, global warming, drug addition and how India be made a strong Nation. The contingent was received by the Program Coordinator, NSS, Professor Jasbir Singh. The volunteers thanked the Coordinator for giving them an opportunity to attend such a camp. This camp gave them a new experience and made them self-dependent. During the camp the volunteers who excelled under different categories of competition included Syed Azhar Jawaid Hashami (GGM Science College)- Best Speaker, Munish Kumar (Govt. Degree College, Akhnoor)-Best Talent, Arfan Shaid (GGM Science College)-Best Poet, Majid Khan (GGM Science College), Best Commander, Sunil Dutt (Govt. Degree College)- Best Folk Singer, Sandeep Bhat (GGM Science College)-Best Comedian , Bhushan (Trikuta Degree College) Best Singer and Rizwanuz-Zaman (GGM Science College) Best Organizer.
